The Zonta Club of the Coos Bay Area is pleased to honor Mike, Kristi, Ashley and Amee Erbele as 2018 Zonta Celebrities during their 20th annual Celebrity Dinner on Saturday, February 24th, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mill Casino Hotel’s Salmon Room. The Erbele Family will be recognized for their combined public service and countless hours of volunteer labor on behalf of women and youth in our community. Selected for their dedicated focus on building future community leaders, the Erbele’s lead by example. Mike Erbele North Bend City Councilman and volunteer firefighter, is a regular supporter of North Bend High School athletics and was named Volunteer of the Year by the Miss Coos County Scholarship Pageant in 2013. Kristi Erbele established the Miss Coos County Scholarship Pageant wardrobe closet and is the coordinator for the Miss Coos County Princess Tea Party for girls 6-10. This public event pairs older girls with the princesses in a mentoring role to learn fundraising and service skills. Ashley Erbele O’Neil worked for many years with the North Bend High School Mr. Bulldog program helping raise over $885,706 for the Children’s Miracle Network. Amee Erbele Springsteen former Miss Coos County and Miss Marion-Polk County is Co-Executive Director of the Miss Coos County Scholarship Pageant and serves as the interview coach. Now in its 20th year, the Zonta Celebrity Dinner fundraiser will include a dinner, dance party with DJ Daryl Elkins and auction. The theme is “A Night in Oz”. Proceeds from the charity event will benefit Zonta’s initiatives to support women and children both globally and locally in our community, including scholarships and community grants. Zonta also provides programs such as the Little Red Schoolhouse, which provides thousands of dollars of school supplies in Coos County each fall, Dress Your Best, a seminar for women returning to the workforce, and Girls Rock, a workshop for young women to learn about opportunities in science, engineering, technology, and math. The mission of Zonta International is to improve the legal, economic, health, educational, and professional status of women through service and advocacy.
